New Guidance on Eviction Proceedings
The Texas Supreme Court has issued its 44th Emergency Order [ http://iz3.me/P3IV6zHiNIL1 ] of the COVID-19 pandemic. In it, the court recognizes the Texas Eviction Diversion Program has closed to new applications. The order requires specific language to be included in citations relating to eviction from residential property for nonpayment of rent; requires trial courts to allow representatives from volunteer or legal aid organizations to be present or provide assistance to eligible litigants; includes other provisions relating to evictions.
